FairVote RI Advance Registration Policy Brief
For three consecutive years, Rhode Island's legislature has passed an advance voter registration bill (H6215) that would allow any citizen to pre-register to vote when
they turn 16 years old. The registration would automatically become
active when youths become eligible to vote at age 18.
Pre-registration doesn’t change the voting age; all it
does is help young people get registered more effectively, and
ultimately
become lifelong voters. Please read our policy brief on this issue [HERE].
