Our nation's strength flows from its willingness to innovate and improve upon the American experiment. For decades a critical component to this progress has been more inclusive government through the ingenuity of proportional voting systems. Seeking full representation has been a fundamental component to FairVote’s mission since 1992. Engaged in the long-term struggle to provide fair access to power too often denied by winner-take-all election methods, we seek to empower women, local communities, and political, racial and ethnic minorities by opening the political process. This perspective is informed by a core belief: the right to rule belongs to a majority, but the right to representation belongs to all.
