Non-governmental Organisation Co-ordinating Committee (NGOCC) board chairperson Lucy Muyoyeta says more needs to be done to correct the situation.
Ms. Muyoyeta told ZANA in an interview that women have up to date been marginalised and excluded from decision-making.
She expressed disappointment that women still lag behind when it comes to opportunities to ascend to positions of decision-making.
Ms. Muyoyeta however expressed optimism that recommendations of the Electoral Reforms Technical Committee (ERTC) would change the obtaining scenario for the better.
She said the movement was particularly pleased with recommendations for special measures aimed at increasing women's participation and the promotion of gender equality.
Among other recommendations the ERTC has proposed a quota system obliging to provide at least 30 per cent women candidates for the constituency based seats in order to qualify for proportional representation system.
The ERTC has also recommended the introduction of the proportional representation under which 25 of the 30 parliamentary seats are to be allocated to women.
