Chief Election Official(s): State Board of Elections (View Website)Election/Appointment Process: Three people are appointed by Governor and confirmed by the General Assembly. The two largest parties submit a list of candidates and the governor must choose one from each of the two lists. The governor designates a secretary of the board. Terms last four years.

- Prescribes voter registration forms
- Determines ballot eligibility of parties
- Approves new voting systems/ devices
- Advertises statewide ballot questions
- Canvasses election returns
