League of Women Voters Demonstration Election

June 2004

At the annual League of Women Voters Convention, CVD conducted a demonstration election to show the benefits of alternative voting systems like Instant Runoff Voting and Choice Voting.

Voters cast ballots to elect the most influential woman.  CVD then used two different counting methods to elect the winner.  In the IRV count, Eleanor Roosevelt came out on top, followed by Susan B. Anthony.  In the choice count, the top three women elected were Eleanor Roosevelt, Susan B. Anthony and Margaret Sanger.
