Extending the Election Data Project

We hope to make this information available in way that will promote better understanding of our elections, and we hope that other researchers will extend the data sets in several important directions:

• By breaking election results down to lower levels, ideally all the way down to the precinct level;

• By merging election results with census data in the way that the Institute for Governmental Studies (IGS) statewide database at UC Berkeley has done for recent California elections and the ROAD project did for state and federal elections from 1984-1990;

• By including presidential and other statewide election results by legislative district.
