Congressional Priorities - 2009-2010
FairVote supports a range of 2009-2010 legislation introduced in Congress. The following bills reflect our greatest current legislative priorities.

HR 157: To provide for the treatment of the District of Columbia as a Congressional district for purposes of representation in the House of Representatives, and for other purposes.
H.J. Res 28: Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States regarding the right to vote.
H.J. Res 36: To abolish the Electoral College and establish direct presidential elections by a majority vote of all adult citizens. This bill requires a majority winner.
S.J. Res 4: To abolish the Electoral College and establish direct presidential elections by a majority vote of all adult citizens. This bill allows Congress to decide how the winner is determined (i.e. plurality versus majority).
S.J. Res 7: A joint resolution proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States relative to the election of Senators.

Oppose:

H.J. Res 9: Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to abolish the electoral college and to provide for the direct popular election of the President and Vice President of the United States. This bill requires a plurality voting system.
