  • Arkansas' fourth district is one of the six nationwide where an incumbent  lost to a challenger in the 2000 House elections.
  • This year marks a return to more competitive elections in Arkansas, with one victory being by only two percentage points.Two of four House elections had been won by less than 10% in each of the elections from 1992-1996, but no races were that close in 1998.
  • All current House members have been elected since Bill Clinton's last gubernatorial victory in 1990.
